- Apply some salt on the surface of the burn to prevent blisters from surfacing. It's not magic, just plain science. Salt prevents the development of a blister by balancing out the membrane concentrations. The high concentration of salt on the skin surface prevents body fluids from gathering under the skin after a burn. However, don't expect anything to happen if you apply salt when blisters have already surfaced.
- Next step is to apply a cold compress to reduce the temperature of the skin and calm the immune responses.
- Apply honey, if you have some. Honey is great for burns on unbroken skin surfaces.
